Serpentine Kit FAQ

Should you need support for your serpantine system we will (in most instances) request a photo to illustrate the issue. We want to be sure we can assist you as greatly as possible and may catch additonal errors before they're made by having as much information as possible.

Some notes to consider before installing your system...
(1) Read the instructions completely before installing your system Common errors can be prevented with a few moments of preperation. Of particular note is how to route the power steering and the alternator. (2) DO NOT use an auto ratchet Our kits are bolt-on, overtightening or hastily assembling them can damage the components or your finish. For proper assembly be sure to use a hand ratchet as most of our customers will agree that assembling billet by hand just feels good and will help ensure your kit is in excellent condition for years to come. (3) Check your kit before assembly It's easier to install the kit with all the parts laid out and it gives you an opportunity to visually line up the parts before install as well as make sure everything is in it's place and easy to reach. Power Steering

P/S Fluid is shooting from reservoir.
  • Lines are incorrectly routed.
  • Using a hydro-boost stepup. You will need a larger PS Resrvoir for a hydro-boost (10, 12 or 14) and will need a "Y" fitting to connect to PS Reservoir.
  • Flow is too high for steering box/rack (Requires flow reduction valve #131199)
P/S Pump is making noise (whining, grinding)
  • Lines are incorrectly routed.
  • Fluid level is not high enough (level should arrive to top groove in reservoir.
  • Reservoir is not mounted high enough above PS Pump (4" above the pump min).
  • Lines collapsing under pressure (lines are incorrectly routed).
  • Incorrect fluid (Standard GM OEM rated PS fluid required).
  • Hole or leake in system.
  • System was started or ran sans fluid (no longer capable of warranty).
  • *Box or rack is faulty (rare).
  • *Pump is deffective (rare).
  • *Vent in reservoir lid is plugged (rare).
P/S Pulley is misaligned with other components
  • Flange needs to be pressed on further or relaxed to line up.
Wheel whips left to right on its own - (twitching, cavitation)
  • Hoses incorrectly routed.
  • Too much flow in gearbox/rack. (Flow over 2gpm requires flow adapter - #131199).
Water Pump

Water Pump will not fit
  • Not using factory style timing cover.
  • LS - Setup will not fit VVT engines.
  • Small Block Ford - Must use included water pump and timing cover.
  • Hemi - Must have car styel front timing cover.
AC

AC clutch won't engage/disengage
  • AC Pulley cover bolts too tight.
  • Belt is not on/not aligned properly.
  • AC clutch wire isn't connected to vehicle properly (varies on vehicle setup).
  • AC system doesn't have proper amount of refridgerant. AC is PRE-OILED. Do not add any oil to your AC unit. Oil used - PAG 100, 3.4oz.
  • AC hose routing is incorrect. (#8 fitting is in rear position, #10 fitting in front).
  • *AC compressor is faulty (rare)
Belt

Belt tension is loose
  • Tensioner bolt is too tight.
  • AC compressor is upside down.
  • Belt is incorrectly routed.
  • Incorrect belt (verify belt part # to setup).
  • Note: Belts are designed to fit snug. The belt may require assistance to place as the tension requires, recommended to start routing with the ribbed pulleys and complete the routing on the water pump pulley.
Notices

Check Engine light is on after install
  • Tuning is required for computer controlled engines.
